    using newsprint....

    I hav emy thermostat taped to the center on the glass right abvove my UTH....and then i have nwsprint and my temp probe on top of that....should it be on the glass above the UTH also...i think it may be getting too hot in his hide cause he's not going in there.

    Racer69,normaly i can figure out what most people are asking,your post here has me confused .When you say you have your "thermostate" taped to the glass do you really mean thermomater(measures the temp range) ? If this is what you meant to say throw that fish tank wannabe thermomater in the garbage.Next your temp probe should be right above your UTH then your newspapers on top of that.If the thermomater is the fish tank stickon then your temps are not correct and thats why your snake is not using the hide.

    Tape inside a snake's enclosure is a big no-no.

    it's masking tape...nothing terribly stick just the keep probes secured and it's under the newsprint....is this still bad?

    Just wondering why tape is bad in the enclosure...I have the cords of my thermostat and thermometer probe taped to the side of the glass, so that the snake doesn't get tangled in them.......

    Re: using newsprint....

    Forgetting about the tape issue for a second, a tstat probe inside the tank is a bad idea. If the snake dislodges it, which is very likely with masking tape, the heating source will not be regulated and will be allowed to reach maximum temps which can burn your snake.
