    Little Otis

Ok my baby Bp Otis who was hatched 10/7/6, set up in a 10gal viv with two identical hides, temps and humidity are right on. He can not keep still @ night especially. He is constantly roaming. Is this normal? He climbs the sides, gets on top of a Flukers digital (affixed to his cool side to meseaure temp & humidity). Which he often falls off of and removes (It has landed in his water bowl 2x's) . He fed on a mouse pinkie Wednesday and I am planning on feeding a rat pinkie tomorrow. BTW, my son's female gave birth to them (rat pinkies) today..yea Sim!!!
I'm just sorta worried, should i be or am i overreacting to his behaviour?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Are the flukers dials what you're using to know if your temps and humidity are "spot on?" If so, they may be more "off" than you know. And uncomfortable temps may be causing him to constantly search for a more comfortable spot.

They are nocturnal reptiles. They roam at night and hide during the day.

    Re: Little Otis

Flukers digital temp and humidity.. and a digital acurite on warm side measuring temp/UTH and humidity. I have to mist about 2x a day for the humidity... so your saying he shouldnt be roaming around so much? I got him 10/21 handled only 2x this past sunday for just a couple of min's and today. I was concerned that maybe the pinkie mouse he ate last Wednesday wasn't enough to fill him up, his skin is a little loose.. ?? like he's empty. That was his first feeding since hatch.

Yeah, i get that, but i have a female who was a late 05 to early 06 hatch and she doesnt do this. She was older when i got her and i just didn't know if this was something to do with Otis's age being a baby and all? I believe the temps and humidity are correct, and that this type of behaviour is typical if the temps aren't right.
And thanks you guys, for any and all responses. Keep 'em coming.

Did you just get it? They tend to explore a lot when they are first introduced to a new enclosure. At night is when he will move around the most though, as that is when it will feel safest. Not all are like that, maybe she is just a little scared. My first BP explored and watched me across the room to make sure I wasn't going to attack but my new one just lazily made its' way to a hide and acted like he had been there for years.

ok, this is what i thought was going on . Yes i got him on 10/21 and it is mainly @ night when he does this. I thought it was typical but i just wanted some reassurance. I am constantly checking the temps and humidity just to make sure its right. I will now stop worring so much about him and just keep an eye and let him settle in. Now i feel much better, thanks for answering my questions. And Happy Halloween!

personally i find that fluker's digital therm/hygrometer is a little inaccurate, compared to the accurite

    Re: Little Otis

I use both. How inaccurate would you say the Fluker's could be? If i'm using both should that give me a reasonably accurate reading?

I think he's just curious to his new surroundings when i got Maleagant he went right in observed the territory and found a little spot and curled up but when we got Morrighan she didnt stop moving for almost a week I was worried too but she finally settled down and all is well now so i wouldn't be too afraid
