Disgusting feeding!!!
I was feeding my BP Jazeira last night, when she struck the rat very hard and fast, and it split open!!! I feed f/t and there were guts everywhere and loads of blood! When she swallowed it down, all the guts went too luckily!

Re: Disgusting feeding!!!
Never seen that one before...
I've seen it where the eyes bulge a lot, and where the rats defecate and urinate while being constricted, but never exploding...
Gross!

LadyOhh, she was feeding F/T, I've never had frozen deficate or urinate... O.o
Sometimes they thaw a bit odd and you'll have that. They're also more prone to splitting if they are refrozen.

F/T can be messy at times if you have one that hits hard. I've had them grab it so fast and hard the tail was still in the tongs while they had the rest of it.

Reminds me of Flea my Tokay ,once a month she gets a small fuzzy mouse , she hits it so freaking hard its unbelivable, last time she bit it in half and left the back legs and tail behind in the tongs lol

Re: Disgusting feeding!!!
yea that happens to f/t
but once i fed my bp a small mouse, and there was 5 drops of blood on the paper towel, but i couldnt see any scratches on my snake, so i'm assuming it came from the mouse

Re: Disgusting feeding!!!
My BP hasn't been that gorey when eating, yet. But, he did do some damage to a few f/t meals. He'll grab the mouse and rip...but let go BEFORE he gets the whole mouse. Then strike again, and constrict. Blood all over the feed box, all over him. So then I have to gently wipe him clean with a moist wash cloth. I do believe he is sadistic. I am SO glad he eats f/t. I couldn't imagine what he'd do with a live animal.
Also, a friend of mine told me about his friend's Savannah monitor. It, too, eats f/t. But, as soon as it spots the mouse on the tongs, it grabs and then swings the mouse all over the place, bashing it off of the sides of his enclosure, the rocks...which, I apologize for being graphic but, sends guts flying all over.
Reptiles can be pretty psychotic, apparently.
