Afrock transport tomorrow!
Well, I get to transport an Afrock tomorrow to his new permenant home in another province (it's going to be a LONG drive).
Last month, I went to visit a friend. We went to the nearby zoo, just a small dinky little zoo. Of course I checked out the reptile room. They were selling baby corns, normal and anery, and I was talking to them about them. The fellow there showed me the Afrock they had, and told me his story. Supposedly someone had dropped him off, for a few weeks while they went away, and never returned for him.
Basically, the zoo didn't want him, they already had a number of large boids, so they sent him home with me. I took him to a friend who's been acting as a foster home for him, and I'm happy to announce he's now going to a permenant, experienced and knowledgable home tomorrow morning!
He's a lovely snake, very fast and wrangly though. He's not been aggressive, but there's always the potential.
Here's his picture (I blacked out my foster home's faces for their protection, LOL):
1.1 ball pythons 'Constantine' and 'Calypso'
1.1 cornsnakes 'Naga' (miami phase) and 'Aurora' (anery, het for amel)
0.1 boa constrictor imperator 'Calliope'
0.1 rottweilers 'Java'
2.0 children 'Robbie' and 'Logan'

That is awesome that he has found a good new home as of tomorrow.

Thanks. It was definitely not easy to locate someone willing to take on a large snake, especially an afrock. It was imperative that the person who did take him has experience and the ability to care for him properly.
Let me tell you, I carried him out to my car in a bag. He was heavier than hell, and he's only a year or so old. I'd say he's at least 50 lbs right now. And hissy, wiggly, cranky snake.

How wonderful that he's been found a permanent home! Good for you, his foster family and his permanent family. Rescue and rehab even if it's only one snake here or there, or larger numbers of them is so wonderfully rewarding! Congrats on his placement.

Thanks! It is most certainly rewarding! I used to do, and rarely still do, rottweiler rescue, and the knowledge that the animal has been placed with someone who cares, and who will do everything in their power to keep them safe and happy is just awesome!

Surprisingly well. He was very quiet on the trip, we kept the van interior on the cool side to keep him docile. Other than the wicked wind storm that's hitting the area (my van was all over the road!! It was insane!), we had a good trip! We brought a psycho nile monitor back to a new home with a friend, he was a bit of a jerk to deal with... tried to eat our hands.

Thanks!! He is a purty fella! Heavy and wrangly to hang onto, though!
