    Exo-terra Snake Cave

My 1-yr-old BP loves his ZooMed 3-in-1 rock hide, but I can't find one big enough for him so I'm looking at getting 2 of the Exo-terra Snake Cave, which are similar.

My problem is - no one seems to stock them, and I'm afraid to order online without seeing 1 first, mostly because I'm unsure of the size I'd need. Med or Large? Here is a link:
    http://www.exo-terra.com/EN/products/snake_caves_i.html

He loves his current, similar cave so much but he's outgrowing it. He's not full grown yet, but I'll probably get the size needed to accomodaet him into adulthood.

Any suggestions on which size would be best for a full-grown ball python? Med. or Large?

    Thanks!!

    Re: Exo-terra Snake Cave

I've seen a few caves like those. And a breeder by my job has some. I like the way they look but I was told that even though most of those caves advertise showing ball pythons in them. A ball python will outgrow it. I wouldn't mind having one of those caves for my 55gal that my big girl is in but after seeing the large cave i don't think she would fit inside...even if the cave fit in my tank. I ended up making her hide out of a cardboard box...Not the most natural looking but it get's her done!

Cardboard will get soiled and form mold and bacteria over time. Another option - get a small or medium kitty litter pan from WalMart and solder out an entrance like this:

Is that kitty litter thing half on, half off the flexwatt so that the snake doesn't need two hides? Or is the tub so small that a second hide isn't needed?

1/2 on and 1/2 off, and big enough that she could choose sides. In this picture, she was in the cool side:

The cave is a death trap! I'm sorry lol. But we bought it for our female and she went over it and the lid ended up falling down into it...well she then decided to go into it...her back end must of pushed down even further on the top which was already down into it, and the door actually pinned her inside....we woke up in the morning to her stuck in the hide with half her body out and her neck and head stuck in it, I tried pulling it every which way and couldnt get it, my hubby had to actually get a hammer and break it off of her...since then we have used litter pans and love them!! We also bought some solid cave/rock looking things....once piece this time lol....it works for our smaller guys but our large ladies need pans.

These (one on each side in a 20-gallon long) work well for me (and they're affordable):

They also come in extra-large. My snake is about three feet long and seems happy with this one, though.
