    I got a rescue!

Look what the SPCA brought to my door this morning. They said they found him in the trunk of a rental car. They also said that the rental car people were beating it with a broom trying to get him out. If you look close you could see missing scales along his back from the beating. They're not sure how long he was in the trunk. He looks a little skinny. So far I have just offered him water. I'll try feeding him in a couple days so he has time to settle in. Other than that he seems ok. I'll keep you all posted on this guy. OH he's a Texas Rat Snake.

I'm very glad to hear that he is in your care now. It's frightening what some people will put animals through! I don't think some people view snakes as animals...they think that because snakes can't speak or show emotions that they don't have feelings and all of us here know that is very untrue. Keep us updated on how he is doing!

I just saw him drinking some water so I hope thats a good sign. He's been doing alot of exploring. Luckily I had an empty BARRS cage that I put him in.

This one is spoken for. The SPCA girl that brought him wants him back once he's better. But if I get anymore I'll keep you in mind.

Not being rude here.If she wanted him why did she bring him to you then? That does not make sense other then she wants you to nurse it back to health and then she gets the prize.I wonder if she even knows how to take care of him properly? Of course its your decision,if it was me she would not get his old shed skin.My response here was made totaly for the snakes well being. Please keep us posted on his progress

Not being rude either Joe but maybe being with the SPCA she recognizes that you take a living creature to someone who knows what they are doing when that animal is in crisis. You don't overestimate your ability to be all things to all creatures, you do what's best for the animal involved. Personally as much as I love our snakes, if I felt something was beyond my skill set with them, I'd be hauling butt to a more experienced person. The snake's best interests are probably being met right now where he is. Part of rescue is rehabbing and working to place the snakes with a loving forever home. It's not about who "gets the prize".
