Exclamation URGENT: Help save this dog's life

Moderators: I realize this is probably more appropriate in the other pets section, but felt it would get more reads up here. Please move if you feel best.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have never helped with a relay transport before but are interested, feel free to pm me with any questions. It's kinda like the underground railroad for pets...a chance to literally save a life without the commitment of actually adopting a dog yourself. You just sign up to drive a leg if you want to help! This particular dog is on a very short stay of execution, pending my ability to get him to the rescue group.

Help save Harley! He was turned over for euthanasia but I found a shelter who is willing to make room for him, if I can get him there! All legs are flexible, please cross-post widely. All times allow for a 15 minute potty-break between legs.

    Name: Harley
    Species: Canine
    Breed: German Shepherd
    Age: Young Adult
    Weight: ~70lbs
    Gender: Male
    Altered: Yes
    Personality: Fearful, submissive, friendly.
Description: Classic GSD black saddle, long-coated, dropped ears.
Reason for Transport: Euthanasia to rescue
    Crate: Not provided
    Leash/Collar: Provided
    Crate Trained: Yes
    House Trained: Yes
Car Riding Behavior: Loads well, nervous fidgeter but stays in one place.
    Health Certificate: Provided
    Vaccinations and Shots: Current
    Known Medical Problems: None
Known Behavior Problems: Fearful; please use extreme caution when moving him between vehicles, as he may bolt.
Additional notes: Harley was an owner-surrender to a veterinary hospital for euthanasia when the owner's other dogs continually harassed him. He had been found as a stray some months prior and his background is unknown. We presume he has been beaten, due to his initial reactions to us. He is very fearful towards strangers, and may bolt if panicked. Please double-leash this dog at all times, and keep him securely fastened to something inside the vehicle. He responds well to calm firm gentleness, and does know his name. His favorite "itchy spot" is just back of his shoulders.

Re: URGENT: Help save this dog's life

Rescue groups can always use more transporters, and there are a ton running all over the country every weekend. It's been especially hard for us to get volunteers this summer, with gas prices so high. So if you're interested in general, shoot me a pm and I'll point you towards some transport specific groups. :-)

Not close to your route. Just wanted to tell everyone that sometimes these runs are the ONLY way to save an animal with foster homes so few and far between. I have made many runs. It's really great when your run is the last leg to a new and very thrilled owner. I will pass your route on to all my dog friends. Good luck!!!

I can e-mail it to ya, if that's okay. I have more pics of him too, but didn't want to put up too many and swamp anybody still using d/u.
