points to convince parents

I am keeping with my breeding plan on het albinos and want some advice on how to convince my mom to let me do this at home. I already have a place that I can if not. I am drawing up a business plan type thing to show her the benefits of this financially. I am going to strart off showing an outline explaining the costs of upkeep(racks, heat, food, misc.) and the prices (market value) of albinos and hets. Is there anything else that I can throw in there to help prove my point of why I should be able to do it at home?

Don't know enough about you or your home situation to begin to offer advice. How old are you? Do you have a job and a plan to pay for everything? How long have you been collecting and keeping pets? (Any issues with your Mom having to "do all the work" with your pets?) Will you be going off to college in the future? What plans do you have for that? What's your home like with regards to being able to keep multiple animals without intruding on your Mom's space? ...just a few questions that pop into my head right off the bat....

19 with a full time job as a manager of a local smoothie bar. Had a job everyday of my life since I was 15. Never had any pets here since I was 10(parents divorced, dad took dog). I am in college now, living at home. Um...I think with a little buttering and cleaning in the right spots, she will let me. Just asking if there is any other things that would be positives of breeding.

BTW, I have 3 cats at my girlfriends house that I take care of along with her. I have had my BP for about 4 months now, buy my own feeders and pay my own vet bills to get them checked. My baby BCI has been here for 2 months now and I also have a larger BCI that has been here for about 2 months which is currently at a friends house on a breeding project. I help to care for the two boas(both about 6-7 feet) and keep up with them as well.

It sounds like you have the bases covered. I'd say present that business plan and let us know how it goes!

Yup...like Christie says...it sounds like you have most of your bases covered already. The only thing I can think of to add to your "business plan presentation" is to offer a clear-cut plan for what you will do with your snakes should your life-situation change. You never know what next year might bring...or the year after...especially at this transitional stage in your life. You may move into a dorm or apt with a strict no-pets policy...or get that perfect job that moves you someplace where your snakes aren't allowed...or any number of scenarios.


Just make sure that your snakes and projects won't intrude on your Mom's space (I have NO idea how she feels about snakes in her house...but I can relate to reluctance because of my hubby)....and make sure she can trust that she won't ever get "stuck" with them a year or two down the road.
