Help!
Ok, I really need help here, badly. I was inspecting my baby doll today, a young ball python, about 6 months old. He is towards the end of his shed now and just scraping the old flesh off, and as I turned him over to see the rest of his skin, I noticed there was an unusual bulge at his cloaca. It is a light reddish mass, appears filled with fluid, and despite my books, the only thing I can find that is close to what I am looking at is possibly rectal prolapse or prolasped hemipenes. I know in the end I will probably have to take him to the vet, bt I want to at least get an idea of what the hell is going on, pardon my language. Any help, suggestions, or general knowledge is very welcome here.

Re: Help!
Without a picture it's nearly impossible for us to even guess.. but no matter what it is, we're all going to tell you get your snake to a reptile vet (not your dog's vet!) asap.

Re: Help!
Does it look like this?

My vet said that was a prolapsed cloaca. I had to give my snake antibiotic shots for this, so get to a vet asap!

Re: Help!
Well, in stranger news, I inspected him yesterday because of his problems with shedding, and while looking for the red mass, it was gone. Completely. So now I am even more confused, but I am just hoping the disappearance is a good thing. I wish I could get pictures, but I have no camera. And it kind of looked like that picture, only it wasn't so clear, it was opaque and a light red color, a tinge smaller too.

Re: Help!
Did you ever get him to the vet? Only a vet experienced with snakes can tell you for sure what's going on and if your snake is ok.

Re: Help!
I haven't yet, but hopefully if my next paycheck this week looks well enough to get me past bills, I will go to our closest exotic pets vet and see if they can do a payment plan for the visit, otherwise there is no way I can even go.
