Okay, heres the deal, my husband is swedish, we do not know alot about his family history there, although we do know his grandfather came to the US from there sometime we think 1930's to early 1940's.. according to his grandmother, his grandfather never really talked about his life or family left in Sweden. All I know is this:

He came from a place that he and many of his siblings were working on a bridge (place unknown).. apparently, there was a callapse of this bridge and several of my husbands grandfathers siblings were killed, he left Sweden after cause it really tore him apart.... anyone have any ideas how to figure out where in Sweden this bridge is, remember hearing of this?..anything, that may help us place where his grandfather came from... we know their family home was very close to this bridge, they could see it...

Also, someone told me once that Ellis Island was not the only port of entry to the US at one time, that supposedly there was one off the great lakes..can anyone verfiy? Maybe a name and proper location if its true?

Thanks for your help in advance.
