    Feeding ????

As normal, I get my Sweetpea two hoppers once a week. This week as soon as she saw the box they were in, she struck the box then recoiled. Once they were placed in the tank she started to "wag her tail" it was the cutiest thing. She looked like a puppy fixing to get a treat. Has anyone ever had this happen with a snake. Anyway I just thought it was cool she wagged her tail.

Yes my Duchess used to "wag" her tail when I first got her. She was very stressed and riddled with parasites and malnourished and dehydrated and generally unhappy. She'd do it when I reached in there, probably because she was so scared of humans. She doesn't do it anymore. I'm not saying your snake hates you, but yes, bp's waggle the very ends of their tails when worked up, I've seen it.

    Re: Feeding ????

My gophersnake will vibrate the end of his tail if he gets super-stressed or really scared. The older he gets, the less often that happens. Supposedly this is done with the intention of immitating a rattlesnake....but I'm quite sure he has NO CLUE that rattlesnakes even exist.

I have not seen this behavior in my BP...however, I would take any tail-wagging to be a defensive and stress-induced action. It may look cute, but I'm quite sure they don't do it out of any sense of pleasure.

I'm not sure why he was able to strike at the box that the mice were in (if I read that right)....but maybe that was what frightened him...smacking into something flat and unyeilding must be rather disconcerting.

Its a defensive behavior...kind of like a warning almost. Pythons, especially Rock Pythons, wag their tail instead of rattling it as somewhat a kind of warning. They do it usually before they strike. Its kind of cool to watch. I'll see if I can get a pic of my female wc AfRock doing it for ya
