I read this today....
I was doing a little reading before work today and stumbled across this about breeding:
"Combat often stimulates inactive male pythons to court and breed females placed in their cages. Many python breeders purposely place males together, encouraging combat between them, before placing the males with the females for mating." From: The Ball Pyhton Manual by Phillipe de Vosjoli
Anyway, is this a common thing? I just thought it was interesting, and have never really heard much about this before. Is it for "problem" breeder males, or does this not really happen much?

yes, another male in with a lazy breeder will stimulate the other by fighting. not much of a fight, more like a shoving match.

Re: I read this today....
I've also been reading up on this and was told to do it if the breeding wasnt happening, they also said it was more like a shoving match then an actual full on attack...I'm guessing the male feels all tough and manly afterward and the "deed" gets done.

Exactly...it's nuts how males all the way across the board are exactly the same in so many ways isnt it? I'm also wondering if the male snakes roll over on there backs and go to sleep after.
