What qualities do you look for in a morph?
With ball python morphs, price always seems to be one of the main topics. I am seeing more and more people that just want to purchase the morph, and could care less of the characteristics of the animal that they are pruchasing. Personally, I have certain characteristics(completely independant of price) of each morph that I will look for before a purchase.
Basically, I want to ask you all....
If you had two of the same morphs from two great breeders for the same price, how would you choose one over the other? What makes a morph catch your eye?
I figured we could all give our opinion on what we would look for in pieds, spiders, clowns, genetic stipes, and cinnies It is interesting to know what other people find attractive in their snakes
Here is what I think...
Pieds....I like extreamly low white pieds....as little white as possible...their pattern is so cool looking.
Spiders....A spider's pattern really does not matter to me at all, but I love when they have great color and the area around the edge of the black in their pattern seems to glow.
Clowns....Clowns with no pattern except a sort of stipe down their back are the best out there.
Stripes.....Genetic stipes with extreamly broken up stipes are some of the coolest looking ball python morphs out there.
Cinnamon.....I really dig cinnies with black backs and tons of blushing.

Daniel, What I want in a morph is color, color and more color. It would also be nice if it had the temperment of a spider and fed like a mojave.

Re: What qualities do you look for in a morph?
Pieds....I like a good mix of white and pattern....I think my perfect mix is about 60%-75% white...because I love that vibrant white, and I love the contrast created by blotches of "normal" color.
Spiders....I like spiders with high white sides and minimal patterning.
Clowns....I just loooove me some clowns! But if I had to choose between two otherwise equal deals, I'd probably go for the one with less side pattern.
Stripes.....I'd probably opt for the full stripe here, because we get broken up patterns with so many other morphs.
Cinnamon.....I'd look for rich colors, funky patterns, and lots of blushing.

Spiders.... White high up the sides

I second that for pieds!! I love the one Adam has in all the 8Ball pictures...with only 3 patches of color, including the head...and then all white. HOT!!

As much white as possible..piebald, albino, supermojave, leuc. etc..
As sharp as possible like mojave.

Re: What qualities do you look for in a morph?
Well, lets see....
Axanthics with blackbacks are my new fav characteristic that I would look for...
Clowns that are SUPER reduced with ONE solid dorsal coloring and a wacky head pattern..
Pieds..... I have to say I like 'em all! I actually like low white as well with an extremely reduced pattern.... Maybe 25% - 40%?
G-Stripes - Full stripe reduced pattern
Cinnies - Not entirely sure... I THOUGHT I LURVED my male that is dark brown and almost copperish....... Then I just got my female that's more of a traditional cinny, and she's super hot.... I guess a bronze/coppery color with tons of blushing and a wacked out cinny pattern would be awesome..
Pastels - Faded (almost white) head/lips... TONS of blushing...
Spiders - LOW White sides.... some orange in the sides... reduced patterning with a cool head spot. (Still looking for a spider with a spade on his head to match my logo)
Hypos - Orangey - Faded head...
Lessers - Blushing orangey yellowish.... oh hell, who am I kidding... if they make white snakes... they're okay with me!

I'd like to add that I do appreciate the crazy pattern that the pied's have, and it would probably be cool to mix a low white pied with your other color morphs to give the pattern an even more awesome look.
But for normal pieds... I definately like the high white. That's what makes them pieds!

Re: What qualities do you look for in a morph?
the color has to pop for me! look at a caramel in person, wow! interesting pattern or something unique in pattern.
overall the snake has to "pop" and say something to me.
if i had to choose between breeders with the same price?
the level of service, answering questions, after the sale service, and "gut feeling" of who i trust, is what i think and compare. i will pay more for better service and after the sale support.
anyone can sell cheap or drop prices! not everyone can be trusted after the sale, to be there and help you out.

Pied's( I like 40% to 50% white like most of you said the pattern's on them are wicked.
Spider's( I like high white sides and reduced patterns.
Hypo's( The orange one's , and with these the head does seem to be the most important part.
Yellow belly's(They have to have the real classic look some of them don't.
