    heat situation and more

My tub is really bugging me. It's a 1956 sterilite model (27qt). I set it up with an exo-terra uth covering about 2/3 of the bottom which is hooked to a herpstat 2. When the Herpstats displays 88.9, the acu-rite displayed 95.7 out, and 78.9 in.,and my room is around 70-76 degrees all the time. I melted two rows of holes all the way around the tub and the humidity still was like 78%, so I poked some more holes. I checked my humidity the next day and it was 68%, still on the high side, so I put the water bowl in the coolest corner and turned on my ceiling fan....... Now I checked my temps and humidity 2 hours later, and here is where I got frustrated, High-88.7, Low-77.0, Humidity-48%. Now remember before, when I had only 2 rows of holes, my herpstat was the one displaying the lower number, now I have to kick it up to 95 for the acu-rite to display 90.0. I am starting to believe that I sodered too many holes. What does one do when stuck in this miserable position??

Ok...here's a quickie lesson: Always get the tub setup BEFORE you have to put a snake in it. The reason being...because it can take several days to tweak everything just so.

Just take some masking tape and cover up some of the extra holes on the ends. (From the OUTside, of course...no tape inside the tub!) Each time you make a change to the tub's setup, whether it is adding holes, adjusting the t-stat, moving the water dish...or whatever...you need to give it at least a full day to run with the new change...because it can take awhile for the temps and humidity to shake out to their true levels after the tub has been messed with.

So...just take it one step at a time, and be patient.

Haha, thanks for the quikie.... I ordered a rack about two weeks prior to getting my guy from ken and the rack man said it would arrive in 5 days. Well I was sure it would be there, but it didn't come and it was the wed. before the Tucson show. So on thursday I picked up a few things to make a single tub and prept it...but I didn't realize that it would take a while to tweak, ya know! But thanks anyhow, ill try the tape, on the OUTSIDE of course!!!!!!!!
