    tub cool temp off

I just set up my tub and its a 24qt sterilite thats long not tall(about 6in. high). I have my uth covering more than half the bottom and it's hooked up on a herpstat 2, which I had to set to 85 to get 90 on the tub surface-I think this is due to the placement of the probe, I had to stick it on the bottom of the uth instead of sticking it on the tub first, above the uth. My house stays in the high 60s most of the time and my cool side is reading 73.9 when my hot side is 90. What should I do?

high 60's is really cold to keep a tub in! you will have problems trying to get and maintain the right temps for a ball python is a room in the 60,s. imo

Thats what I was afraid of. Is there anything to put on the outside of the tub to kind of insulate it??

    Re: tub cool temp off

try walmart, lowes, home depot, etc. they have small heaters. alot of the ones now have a simple thermostat built in. this would turn the heater on/off, alot also have a tip over feature, if it gets tipped it turns off too.

it does cost some to get them properly setup. look at it this way, not properly setup there is a good chance that your snake may become sick. you can very easily spend 100-200 at a vet's office!
