You have a snake? Snakes? You're going to (eventually) get tagged. Don't dwell on it......it'll happen and you're done.
Most of mine have been more of the jump / surprise thing b/c of the fast movement, but nothing much in the way of pain. The few times I was tagged by Pi**y, it didn't even bleed much.
The worst I've had was when I got nailed by Hera, my RTB. Her's was hard enough that my fingers were a little bruised for part of the afternoon, numb for about 10 min. but very little blood....and she was about 9# at the time.
Oreo, CeCe I don't know it's happening unless I SEE it. Felix's sting a little bit. Wrigley's now that he's bigger, I haven't encountered yet. Precious' was due to a SFE. It was feeding day and he was VERY hungry and in a STRONG HUNT MODE. That one burned for about 5 min. w/the alcohol......the other BPs (adults) haven't tried to bite at all.

yeah I wouldn't say a Ball Python bite is sore but I agree you do bleed a bit
I dont worry about getting bit by them but I am more focused and careful when handling my bloods, I really would rather not get tagged by them but I know most likely I will at some point as it is or can be part and parcel of snake keeping.
I remember a time I was doing a talk for some kids at a school , and I took some Balls down a large male Blood Python and a Cali King Snake but as I was putting them into containers for the drive down I touched slightly the tail of the blood getting him in his box.
Now barely touched I mean like the tip of a finger nail just knocking his tail in. I had used gloves to put all in as I knew I was handling the King Snake when I got down there but I had the gloves off when the blood pushed the lid up before I had locked it so just tapped his tail back in and locked it up.
When I got to the school all the kids were gleefully sitting on the floor waiting in anticipation and the teachers were pasted to the wall at the back of the room with a look of horror and disgust on their faces.
I obviously thought take the king snake out as she will go ballistic if I handle the others 1st and she smells it.
Anyway I got her out all 5 and a half feet of her and begun by telling the kids where she originated from and how docile she was when she suddenly started attacking my hand repeatedly , bite after bite after bite ... the kids faces turned a shade of white, some screamed, the teachers looked like they had just been told holidays were cancelled, and I was the calmest person there still talking explaining my stupid error of leaving a snake scent on me even in a tiny amount and turned it into how efective the forked tongued tasting the particles in the air just was...
I must have been bitten over 20 times by the usually calm and docile King Snake and is just one example of stupidity on my behalf because I knew better but didn't take the proper precaution like washing my hands after I got them loaded even though I was in a rush.
At some point you are likely to get bitten .....its almost a fact but Ball Python bites are not something to worry about unless you freak out when you see blood of course

I would say that the fear and anticipation of your first bite is far worse than the actual bite. My first bite was an adult female - and she gave me a warning strike. The next day it looked like a mild scratch with a hint of bruising color (although for me, the area wasn't even sore).

I finally got tagged by a friend's hatchling pastel - he drew two teensy spots of blood - YAY!
I was so excited, I didn't wash my hands so I could show Rick. =)
0.1 ball python (Cleo), 0.1 surinam bcc (Carmen)
1.0 sunglow motley corn (Jenson), 1.0 albino burmese (Lourdes)
1.0 cat (Nicky), some mooses and ratters, 1.0 hubby (Rick)

Think about having your hands cut off with a dull bread knife  . Well it feels nothing like that. .
No depending on where you get bit the hand is the most common and it will make you finger throb and very little blood, more like falling into a sticker bush. Now on the arm or something might just burn or sting a little.

Re: how does it feel to get bitten by a ball python
Just remember that when a snake bites it is never the snakes fault only the person with a tastey piece of flesh near by!! that said
My latest bite was by a hatchling. I was sifting through a tank full, and as i reached into a pile, one thought that wasn't a good idea and tagged my thumb, i was like "huh" and kept looking though, the pile, when i finally pulled one out and was showing my friends they were like "YOU GOT BIT" to be honest from a hatchling i didn't even feel it.
Another memorable one is when I had an adult strike at my hand a few years ago, and i flinched, as the snake pulled back he continued to dragg his teeth through from the meat of my thumb accross my palm to the tip of my pinky. Didn't hurt too much, bled a ton, but i knew it was my fault.
I am sure everyone has some memorable stories about SNAKE ATTACKS!!!
Just don't fear it and come to terms with that it is inevitable!!! Good Luck!
