Ok I just got my first bite... (DU WARNING)

Ok just moments ago I recieved my first bite from my newly aquired King Snake Isabella! (which is full grown!) When we first got her my sister was holding her for a little while before her settle in period. Well the snake attempted to slowly open its mouth and and snack on her breast. Well I wasn't so lucky. I had her around my neck and she was doing her "explorer" thing when I heard a sound (almost like someone chewing mashed potatoes with ther mouth open) and looked over to find her with her teeth dug into my shoulder! Well my first reaction is to get her off of me ofcourse! I didn't even feel it or know she was biteing me until I saw it! So I slowly attempt to grab her behind the neck and pull her off. BAM! Then it hit me.. I remember steve irwin saying that most snakes teeth are curved towards there throat so pulling wasn't going to get me anywhere! So I had to let her sit there and chew until I saw an opportunity to push and little forward then lift... both up and down...! Anyway she was put immediatly back in her tank. CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS BEHAVIOR?

It was isabella???? I thought it was the redtail..... OMG I knew she was tryin to bite me before....

LoL I know that! but it is my first bite! Ti's a bit shocking for me!

well congrats on that, you will be ok. ahh the feel of snake teeth in soft human flesh, well i guess i am due for a bite soon been about a year. lol.

Explain what could invoke the behavior... I know it's a snake and they bite lol but is there something that could has caused her to do this? Is it because she is a King Snake? Was she just bored? Is it common for ALL snakes to slowly open and just chomp..? I mean it couldn't have been a defensive bite... there was no strike. She ate 2 adult mice last friday... is she hungry. When I go near her tank she follows me and when I put my hand above it she rushes to the top to see what it is (and fast!).

i have noticed with the corns and kings i have owned that their metabolism is real high. it was costing me more on food each week trying to plump them up and keep them satisfied. i have had kings do that bite to me before for no apparent reason. maby it thought you were tasty?.
