    getting started

    Good Morning,

I'm getting all set up for my first ball, I've a couple corns currently but haven't had a ball as pf yet. From what a read their care and husbandry is very similar However I haven't had to use a thermostat for my corns. I would like to take every precaution though. Electroncially, im not very quick. Is there anywhere to find instructiosn to hook up a thermostat? or if i purchase one at the herp shop would it come with instrcutions inside? I assume its very simple

Most thermostats come with good instructions on how to se them up. I know the herpstat web sight has the instructions on line that you can download.

This is the really souped up PRO version but it'll give you some idea of what most thermostats instructions will include

    yodur welcome.

Good luck with your new guy. Any othe questions just fire away.

to save you some typing the search function is very helpful most of the time to get an answer quicker.

Welcom to the sight and like I said good luck with your snake. You'll have to get pics up when you get it .

    Re: getting started

i just got a new camera to test out too so the pictures will be up. Actually one other question, i was looking to buy what i guess is a hatchline at less than 2 months old but not sure what the mortality might be for one so young, would i have more luck with one about 6 months old?

    Re: getting started

Well most people like to get a snake that is well established and feeding. For most balls this is a month or so old. I like mine to have had no less than 3 to 4 meals and hopefully shed once (not including the hach shed). So yea I think getting a snake a couple of months old for your first snake is a better idea. Just my two cents

    Re: getting started

again, thank you, i thought that would be the obvious answer, but generally at the herp shop here in port credit they dont handle the animals too often so i also though a baby might adapt to me easier, i'd rather have a healthy eating snake that i can ween onto handling then one that dies ina couple months.

    Re: getting started

normaly theres not a lot of difference in a month or two old animal and a hatchling. As far as how calm they are, just depends on the snake.

    Good luck
