    sizes and pics

    Heres some pics of my ball pythons the lighter coloured one is male about 18 months and 3 feet long 782 grams the female is 6 years old about 4.5 feet long and 2210 grams,proven breeder last time she gave 10 eggs, will it be OK to breed them next season I am worried by the size difference.

    1-1-0 Hogg Island Boa's (Ozzy,Sharon)
    2-1-0 Royal Python (Monty,Madge?????)
    0-1-0 50% Jungle x jag sib 03

    Yes they can breed!! There of perfect size and age. Just make sure you have everything ready and all set up.

    I don't see why not as long as he's ready which he very well should be. There are some that breed their male's at 500g.

    Personally, I would wait until the male is 1000 grams. I don't know why, but it's just personal preferance.

    But, 700 grams should be ok.

    Thanks I was just checking to see if he might be a bit intimidated by her larger size, as the last time she was breed in 2004 with a male that weighed 1200 and they produced 10 normals eggs. She has since been put in with a small pied and a small spider but they didn't breed to her the last owner said it was because she was to big for them.

    Well, Adam has posted some pictures of some massive females that dwarf their male counterparts....but the boys are gettin it done anyhow. BP's are created with that size difference, so I can't imagine the male being "intimidated" by a female's size to be the most likely reason for a refusal to mate.
