? on Heating (heat tape)
hey everyone, i'm looking foward to getting a bp at the narbc in anaheim next week. i plan on keeping the snake in a tub.
i was on mgreptiles.com looking at the flexwatt and i saw instructions for wiring the heat tape etc... if i was at the expo, and i'm purchasing flexwatt can i ask them to set it up for me?
i already purchased a heating pad, but i would rather get flexwatt, but it seems complicated, thanks.

Re: ? on Heating (heat tape)
Flexwatt it actually pretty easy to "setup" as far as connecting some wire with power plug. The important more difficult part is controlling it. You will need a controller (tstat) so you can set the correct temp and also digital temp unit with a remote sensor (accurite and such). You can ask someone at the show...never hurts to ask anything.

They probably would not be able to wire it for you at the expo but as mentioned, it is fairly easy to do. I don't solder because frankly I suck at it. By using the crimp style connectors and plastic covers, it is pretty easy to do.

I suck at soldering also...but this isn't as intricate as electronics soldering. I would suggest soldering just to prevent the off chance that you lose a connection and have a hot wire you don't know about. That's worse case scenario. I haven't used the crimp connectors (added cost...not alot...I'm cheap) but they are made for this so I would assume they are just as secure as soldier if you use them properly.

For $8.49, Matt at MG Reptiles will wire it for you using the crimp connectors. That said, I solder all mine.

Re: ? on Heating (heat tape)
i went to a show and saw them wiring up some flexwatt for somebody. It's worth a try to ask...and soldering is not hard at all. if you buy a cheapo soldering iron and some solder, the directions are on the box telling you how to solder. I've only done it a few times, but it's super simple...anyone can do it.
