Strange happening last night
Lately Dax (our 10 month old male BP) has been acting as if he is starving to death. He is out all of the time looking for food, which for him is an unusual thing.
We decided to give him a little more food and give him a weaned rat once every 6 days insteading waiting a full week. Well, we gave him his rat last night, and he snatched it and swallowed it in record time. We gave him a while to make sure it was down all the way and then Paul went to pick him up and transfer him back to his viv. As soon as Paul put his fingers in the feeding tub, Dax snapped. Dax didn't nail him, but Paul said he felt teeth.
We discussed it and decided he must still be hungry, so we thawed another rat and offered it. It was gone in less time than the first one. He has had a growth spurt recently and will shed again soon, he is getting dull.
Were we just not feeding him enough? And now that he is up to 2 rats at a time can we go back to feeding once a week? I've always been concerned about offering to much food and causing a regourge, am I being to careful?

Mina,i usually give my ball pythons a meal equal to 1 1/2 times there mid section. You should see a small lump in that area,if not then you might bump the size up a little.Try not to feed to much or too often as it could cause a regurge. Its kinda hard to guess the reason why he bit Paul. With him still being in the feeding mode he might have thought wow a Paul finger yummy .
