    Feeding Question

We have had our young BP for 4 weeks now. When we got him he weighed 50 grams and is eating GREAT! So far, he's eaten 4 meals and is up to 80 grams after one month of our care.

We've been trying to feed him every 5 days and we're up to one small Hopper at feeding time. When it comes to day number 4 he's out cruising around his enclosure like CRAZY!

    Questions:
    • Do we feed him sooner than every 5 days?
    • Do we feed him more than one Hopper? (I don't think he's ready for anything larger at this point as the Hoppers don't go down real easy or fast. I say the hoppers are right around equal to his fattest part of his girth.
    • Do we just stay at where we're at in our feeding regimen?
    Any info. would be welcomed.

    Re: Feeding Question

I'd say you are doing well with the feeding. When he gets larger you might want to jump him back to feeding every seven days. What's your setup like? What type of heat do you use? What type of thermometer or hygrometer do you use?

So far, it sounds good to me!

    Re: Feeding Question

Lon all I can tell you is that, at least in our collection, cruising around, lurking from their hides, that sort of thing is very normal the day before feeding day. We consider it a good thing that they are gearing up to feeding day and raring to go when the prey hits the tub the next day.

    Re: Feeding Question

    Jim,

I have him in a 20 gallon long with a mesh screen top. I have a UTH on one end controlled by a Temp Controller with a Probe. Temps range from the warm end at 89-90 degrees F to the cool end at 76-77 dgerees F. My humidity is maintained around 50-55%, via misting the cypress mulch mixture daily.

I use a "ProExotic's Temp Gun" about three times a week to monitor the temps. (two weeks prior to getting my BP and one week after I took temps daily). Now that things are regulated I have backed off of every day temp readings. I monitor my humity daily with a separate hygrometer inside the enclosure.

    Am I on track?

    Thanks guys!

    Re: Feeding Question

Bump the warm side to 92-94 and the cool side from 82-84. Looks like you are on track! Good job!
