The same problem with a difference ?

A while ago I posted about Deebo having tiny patches of retained shed on his head. I soaked him a couple of times as suggested & gently attempted to peel them off with a cotton bud ... nothing budged.

I closley inspected the that head part of the shed (I still had it) to see if there were any bits missing. Insted of them being missing, they were there but completely transparent. In other words there are no scales missing on the shed..but he still looks very patchy & dull on areas affected.

My question is.. Is it possible that the pigment from the shed has remained on his head & this is what is making his head look dull ? & has anybodys Ball had this & is it a concern ?

I have noticed this a couple different times Lisa. It should go away with the next shed.

I have noticed this on several of my snakes at times. It's more like an area where the new skin came off with the old. I seem to recall reading this somewhere, but I've forgotten where. It's probably buried in the forums here as well someplace.

This has happened to mine too; one in particular comes to mind; Ashes, the male I sold to a member of the forum awhile ago. One of his new scales (it was a head scale, one of the medium sized ones atop the head), completely came off with the old shed; left a white spot where the scale had been. In subsequent sheds, the area darkened up and was later indescernable from the other scales; never had any bleeding or any other wrongs. So I guess if he came out OK in that drastic scale loss, things look good for yours.

Thanks guys - I thought i was on my own there for a while.. I didnt think it was something to be worrying about - but it just looks a bit odd really..I was told when I got him that if the humydity was bumped up during his shed it would go, but his shed was complete & he still has these patches.. its just odd really
