another shedding question
my ball python (named him 'ka' from jungle book) is shedding, but i have an interesting problem that i can't seem to find anything about.
the skin on the belly half came off, and around the nose and tail, but on his back (about an inch on either side of his spine) the shed is just flaking off.
humidity is at 55% at the moment, but i live in michigan, so humidity is hard to control without an airtight case. (any suggestions)
ka does not seem to mind, but he is doing this wierd thing where he's trying to crawl around on the cieling of the cage. he'll brace himself with the corner, stand up, and try to slither around ont ehcieling of the cage until he falls over, then repeats for about an hour.
what's going on?

I would recommend soaking for an hour. Get a tub/container and fill with luke warm water. Put snake in and place the container back inside the enclosure. Let him soak for an hour. Then use a damp washcloth to wipe off an excess shed. It should just fall right off. Repeat once a day until it's gone.
To increase humidity, try and cover the screen (I'm assuming you are using a tank) with plastic wrap. Move the water dish to the warm side, which should speed up the evaporation. You might want to describe your setup for more helpful hints.
As for the last... it sounds like your bp is looking for the closest escape route.

Re: another shedding question
lol....i had the same problem...a friend of mine suggested i place a towel soaked in warm water in a bucket or anything big enough for ka to move freely then cover it with a towel...in about a hour my bp gangi had shed fully and was lookin good.
as for the sheding in certain areas then not in some others...im not sure mine does that....but i just "soak" her...and all is well
