What do you guys think this is?

There's a small dent/cut thingy on the back near the tail. He's a CB 06 hatchling, only about 120grams. Should I take him to a vet?

looks like a small cut. if it were me i would keep the snake on newspaper or paper towels and let it heal on its own, maybe occasionally applying polysporin(sp?). it doesnt look to severe.

You say he's a hatchling, so has he gone through his first shed yet?

Hmmm, to me it looks like he may have cut himself on something sharp in his enclosure, maybe the screen lid if he wedged himself up against that looking for escape.

I'd go with it being a rodent bite aswell..
Anyway it dosent look to bad.
You might just want to put an antibiotic cream on it,And see how it dose..

It is definitely not a rodent bite as I feed prekilled (unless it came back from the dead?!). And he's gone through one shed with me. I think you might be right rabernet as I noticed the cut after he escaped, so it was probably from the lid or something in the house.

I'll put some neosporin on it tomorrow and watch it to make sure it doesn't get infected or anything. Thanks for the replies!

looks like a cut not really a bite. Keep it clean and watch it.

He should be ok if you just keep an eye on it. Unless it gets infected, It's just a superficial wound...should heal up nicely with a coupla sheds. Also, liquid band-aid works great for stuff like that too.
