    Johnson A419 Question

Okay I bought this to use this my AP T3 Cage, that uses belly heat. Now my question is, is there any way to use it also with my two tubs, I have that use UTH, that all requires the same temps? How would it work with just one probe? I have never used a thermostat before so this is just all so very confusing to me.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Johnson A419 Question

A thermostat should only be used to run IDENTICAL setups.....if the setups are not the same...it is pretty much pointless. You could run your tubs off a single thermostat if they are the same....You could run several of the same AP cages off one thermostat......but running a mix of tubs and AP cages is not a good idea.....

    Re: Johnson A419 Question

The Johnson's thermostat is an on/off thermostat... once the heat tape gets to the proper temp, the thermostat turns off. When the temp starts dropping, it automatically turns back on.

If you tape the probe directly onto the UTH, the UTH will heat up to exactly the temp you set in the thermostat. The other heat mats that are hooked into the thermostat will only heat up to this temperature, as well.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: But Daniel's right... the temperature INSIDE the cages will be different because they are set up different.

Okays thanks. I was thinking it won't be possible because of the different sizes combined with the different heat sources and setups, but it was worth a shot lol. Thanks.

    Re: Johnson A419 Question

It's important to remember that the other UTH's will only be at the same temp. if the are all of the identical size/type/wattage.

Different sized mats with the same input will achieve different temps.
