Growth Spurts?
My Ball python Naga has been doing amazingly well with eating she has yet to miss a single meal since I have had her and only refused on 2 occasions both where when offering a second mouse.
She has put on alot of weight also she has really grown alot in girth but not Length. So I was wondering what to expect, will she grow in length suddenly or is it very slow,

Re: Growth Spurts?
Younger balls go through "growth spurts" ... older ones grow slow and steady.

Re: Growth Spurts?
Adam - here's a question for you. You know that female that I "rescued" from the pet store in June that was just at 1200 grams?
Well, on one or two small rats a week since I got her, she's now 1896 grams - almost 700 gram gain in 2 months time.
Is it possible that she was underfed by her previous owner, and now that she's getting regular meals she's playing "catch up". The weight gain was unreal, and if I wasn't feeding her myself I'd swear someone was power feeding her! LOL

Re: Growth Spurts?
I'm always amazed at some of the growth spurts I see Robin with our small BP collection. Kyna who came to us as a very small 18 month old was just fed weekly, nice chubby rat pups then weans as she grew....certainly not powerfed or overfed and we saw one spurt of growth where she grew 8 inches in 8 weeks! Just blew me away. We also saw a lot of weight gain out of Saoirse who was so underweight. It was like she was somehow pulling more nutrition from the same rats as another snake was getting and somehow translating it into faster weight gain. These snakes just constantly amaze me.
