    Probing

I was wondering what is the best way to learn how to do this? Is there some where you can go so someone can teach you? I am wanting to learn how to do this in the future and I want to learn how to do it properly.

I learned to probe from our herp vet. I'd say a vet, an experienced keeper or a breeder is the best one to show you how to probe or pop.

So I can just call up my reptile vet and see if I can make an app? Okay I'll try that. Thank you.

Agreed get someone that does it day in and day out. Dont want to hurt your herp.

    Re: Probing

Hard to say really. We had a really good relationship with our vet up in northern Michigan before we moved here to Ohio. She knew she would lose a bit of cash from probing fees we'd paid her but she knew we'd be back for other herp care. Also because we did a bit of rescue and rehab here or there she offered us a nice discount and wanted to save us cash that could go to other things. Some vets might not want to teach you to probe/pop. Best thing you can do is ask though.

    Re: Probing

Okay, well my next question is since there isn't many trusted (well not many at all) reptile vets around here, if she won't do it, do any of you know of any breeders close by (union, ohio) that teaches it?

it is called Animal Kingdom Veterinary Hospital (734) 913-0003

    4920 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd
    Ann Arbor, MI 48103

They have amazing facilities there, and they do all kinds of exotic animals there. A week or two ago, they had a green iguana that had to have most of it's tail amputated - it was cute to see an iguana with an IV for some reason.. it wasnt anything I ever thought I would see.

It is by far the best place I have found in a 300 mile radius, and it is actually pretty close to me!
