BP Active during day?

Hi I am a new BP owner and I have noticed something strange with Zeke. It was my understanding that BP's active time is night time. Well, my zeke is really active in the am. When I get up in the morning he gets up and is allover the cage. Like right now...I have been up for 1 and 1/2 hours and he got up as soon as I did and is still roaming the cage. He actually follows me in the cage. If i am on the computer that is the end of the cage he is at.....if i am watching tv he is at that end of the cage. And he is up at the top like he wants out...he does not do this when my husband is the only one in here. I am concerned that zeke has his nights and days mixed up. I mean his is active at night too, but what is up with this getting up when i do? any body have any idea? thanks

I'm not sure if your movement is maybe stressing him and he's following you in an attempt to keep an eye on the "predator". I've seen similar behaviour in a couple of rescues we've done over the past couple of years but once they settled in they stopped that constant keeping an eye on us behaviour. Not sure if this could be the case with Zeke though or not. You could try crumpling up a bunch of loose newspaper and dropping it in all over his enclosure. It helps them feel like they aren't exposed as they rustle around between and under it. It's a wonderful trick to help settle down a nervous snake.

Also is Zeke's tank in a high traffic area if so that could be the reason. High Traffic = High Stress. Also the noise and/or light from the TV or computer might be bothering him.

is it normal for them to confine themselves to their hides during shed? julius's eyecaps went back to normal coloryesterday morning - she still hasnt started to shed. her temps are 84.9/95.5 and humidity is at about 72%

I gave her a bath last night in the sink, but she doesnt come out of her hide at all otherwise. shouldnt she be trying to scrape the skin off or something?

Yes. This is a very uncomfortable time for your snake. Kepp the humidity where it is and wait.

Your snake will more than likey do this when she is comfortable and feels like she want be messed with. As far as comming out of her hide. Some BP are very active and like to rome. And some will do nothing but hide, depends on the snake.

Deebo is sometimes found out & about during the day. Especially when you have only just got them. They take a good while to settle in.. and they tend to do a fare share of roaming.. and looking for an escape route.

I should wait a while for him to settle and move him to maybe a quieter spot in the house

Yes it is very normal for them to roam and get use to their new digs for days or even weeks when you first get them

Actually - my girl is in the living room. She is 'awake' in the mornings when I enter...the room is empty and dark -- I am not loud. I think she gets active at night -- and when I get up, she goes to bed. She is not stressed or roaming...but often just peeking out of the 'window' to see what is happening or might just have her head out of the hut watching. I think she gets more active in the wee hours of the morning than late at night (but that may be because I am a night owl and have lights on late).
