Albino / High Contrast Albino
I was wondering, would a het albino male paired with a het high contrast albino female still produce albinos, or do those genes not interact together in that way?

Re: Albino / High Contrast Albino
You would get Albinos out of that breeding. High contrast Albinos are no different from any other Albino, except that the parents remained more contrasted into adulthood. As far as I know all Albinos are compatible.

How about a Lav albino with a regular albino?..Will you get Lav's and regulars in the clutch?

I do not believe so. I believe them to be two different traits. However, to the best of my knowledge, that has not been proven as of yet.

Yup, except I would clarify that just because it has the world albino after another descriptor doesnt mean that it is compatible (Caramel Albino, Lavendar Albino, etc).

Re: Albino / High Contrast Albino
Thanks for the info. I am purchasing a het albino male, and I have been looking around for a het female for him, and the only ones I have found have been high contrast, so I wanted to make sure I don't surprise myself in a couple of years when they don't produce any albinos. (Of course I know there's also the fact that someone may call their snake a het and just send you a normal... then I'd be a bit surprised if they produced all normal babies as well.)

Just be really careful who you purchase hets from. Make sure you get a referral or they are well known in the business. You should also expect to receive full paperwork on the snake including picture ID, information on both parents, genetics, etc.

Thanks for the advice. Wish I could get an Albino but just don't have that kind of money at this point...

Re: Albino / High Contrast Albino
We've gone the het route ourselves and purchased a fantastic 100% het for albino male from Adam at 8Ball last year. He's now a big 980 gram yearling and should breed this fall (if the two females slated to be his mates get up to weight that is). We'll just keep back all his daughters to prove out in a few years and also save up for a nice 100% het for albino female for him in the meantime.
We chose Adam for this purchase because of his sterling reputation, his passion for these snakes, our knowledge of him here at BPNet and the absolute perfection of his record keeping and paperwork. For us that was what we needed to feel secure in purchasing recessive genetics.
We'd love to have the funds for a visible albino but there's also something to be said for putting in the time and seeing your own albino peeking out of that egg.
This is Malachi on his first birthday....

Are you buying him a het female or plan to breed his daughters back?
