    Rats and mice

Now my new bp Yoshi, I was told eats one live med rat once a week. So
    1. Is there any way I can get him on mice or are they just two small?
    2. He is 4.5 ft and around three yrs, should he be fed every week?

Adult mice aren't too small - small rats are about right (of course one person's "medium" may be another person's "small) - whichever it is it should be right about the same width/girth as the thickest part of your BP

Weekly is what you want to shoot for - a nice predictable consistent schedule is good for BPs.

In the end rats or mice either is fine - whichever works best for your snake to ensure consistent feeding

At 4.5 feet long he should be on something as big as large rat. I would think. but that depends on his girth.

NOPE! Even the large females never need anything bigger than a small rat. I have a big girl that's about 4 feet and she doesn't get anything bigger than a small, small rat. Closer to the breeding season I may give her an extra one here and there, but not on a normal basis.

    Re: Rats and mice

Well I guess it depends on what you call small and medium. Like my big male eats what the people I buy my rats from call a med. rat and the pied eats a small. So I guess I am looking at it from the size description I am use to. Sorry for the mix up.

    Re: Rats and mice

I think a good sizing chart is available at themousefactory.com, who also happens to be a highly recommended feeder supplier by several BP.netters...=)
0.1 ball python (Cleo), 0.1 surinam bcc (Carmen)
1.0 sunglow motley corn (Jenson), 1.0 albino burmese (Lourdes)
1.0 cat (Nicky), some mooses and ratters, 1.0 hubby (Rick)

    Re: Rats and mice

    Medium rat ~ 100-200 grams
    Adult mouse ~ 35-40 grams

    math? 2.5-5 mice

Though I think some people would recommend otherwise.
