the new girl

I got this new female from my friend's shop; she is in an isolation tank right now for quarantine purposes; don't you feel bad about doing this? I feel like she's lonely, and I would have gotten another girl too, but there weren't any others available. She may be preggo; does have a bely on her, and was caged with males.
I think I'll call her Pie (for piebald, which she is.) She has a sweet temperament, and I want to keep her around for awhile Would you consider her a Black Hooded?

Gin as far as I can see she's a Black Bareback. I think from the picture her color goes onto her shoulders but if it doesn't, then she's a Black Capped. Basically I goes like this....Hooded rats always have the head and shoulder color then a stripe down the spine (broken or not as long as it's a stripe....solid and straight to the tail of course is best for show rats), Barebacks have the color on the head and shoulders but nothing on the back. Capped have it only on the head and not on the shoulders.

Like all rats housed alone, she'll be a bit needy for company so just give her a bit of extra attention until she can join the rest of your colony and have a cage buddy to hang out with.

Ohh OK, thanks for clearing that up! The hoodeds have the stripe; I have a female like that.

I am thinking her quarantine won't need to be that long; she has been at my friend's in a cage w/ other rats and they all look healthy; she was there since birth so I guess it could be considered sort of a quarantine; I have seen her there for awhile and she appears healthy, and I know her rats are parasite free, though there could be a tad bit of inbreeding there; not that this really seems to matter for feeders, in my limited experience.
I would say from that site, she is a bareback since the black does go onto her shoulders. She also has some black near the base of her tail too.
