    Post FedEx Dramas

Man... this has been crazy. I read everything, followed all the instructions, put my test box together and thought I was good to go. What a headache.

First, I call to ask about the account that should be charged for my test box, and the guy at FedEx says "Oh, just "bill recipient", no problem." Well that sounds easy and I believe the guy, so I wander down to Kinkos/Fedex with my box. They act like I'm crazy and insist they need an account number. I ask if I can use their phone and call Fedex for it, and they say sure... but they don't have the number I need and I didn't think to bring it... why would I need it at that point? Eventually a manager says to just put it in the drop box, and they'd deal with it when it arrives there "They'll bill her or pay for it, whatever, just let them worry about it." Lovely.

So I put it on the dropbox, glad that this is just a test box and not one with a real snake in it. I'm going to use a different drop point in the future, or have FedEx do a pick up, because the Kinkos here are horrible with customer service. But hey, that may have been a hassle but at least it's done, right?

No. I get a message from FedEx saying I forgot to sign/date the paperwork, and that they'd fax it to me so I could sign and fax it back. Followed by a second message saying that the fax didn't work. It didn't, as our fax machine isn't working. So I call back and get the guy's machine. I appologize for my stupid mistake (I was so focused on getting the box right/snake safe and always sign/date things last minute, so... yeah, my bad.) and let him know my fax machine is busted, and that I'd get to a Mail place that I can fax from the next day.

I go, get the number he needs to fax to, and call. Machine again (I have yet to talk to this guy directly.) I leave him the number... and wait. I finish my book, sketch a little, and call again. Still a machine. After waiting there for 4 hours... I leave him a message to please go ahead and fax it to that number, and the nice lady there will call me when she gets it.

I'm the kind of person who feels like everything is on hold till I get something like this taken care of. So... argh! Getting impatient, I print out the paperwork again, fill it out -ALL of it, and ask Karen to fax it to them from work just to make sure. Hopefully, that should do it. Haven't heard anything from the FedEx guy or the Fax lady.

YEASH. Just thought I'd share my pain.

Ack! That sounds horrible. You waited four hours?!?!? All hail the queen of patience.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll be fedex certified soon.

When you're used to taking public trans, especially in Phoenix, 4 hours is nothin. Even when we use Amarin's car - it has no air conditioning, and it's black and metal... in 120 degree weather, I'd rather sit in the air conditioning there all day than make two trips. This is why I take a book everywhere I go.

is a great book, btw! Now I need to pick out another one before I brave leaving the apartment again.

    Still no word. Blarg.

Yay! Thanks, Sweety I love that my hatchlings can look forward to such loving homes on bp.net!

And yes, I've read Wicked and loved it! Still need to get my talons on Mirror Mirror and Son of a Witch. Maguire's fast become quite an inspiration to me as a writer, I love looking at and re-writing old stories from a new perspective! I loved Mists of Avalon for the same reason, but Maguire's more Fairy Tale direction really really appeals to me.

Son of a Witch is a good read, not as engrossing as Wicked and Confessions, but still worth the time to read.
I haven't read Mirror Mirror yet, but I do have Lost. It's different...it's not a rewrite of A Christmas Carol, but more written in the style of ****ens.
I don't read much fiction, but there's something about Maguire's writing that keeps me wanting more. I wouldn't mind reading your stories done in that fashion!

    Re: FedEx Dramas

I'm probably gonna go for Mirror Mirror next, I don't read near as much fiction as I used to these days as I'm often busy at home with my own stuff, but when I go out... I need something to keep my mind busy while I wait. Although really, I should be just taking a notebook with me and work then too. But like TV (and Netflix!), a good novel is a good break!

I hope I can get my butt in gear and throw myself back into my own writing! Sometimes my muse takes a short vacation. But man... if I can do Medusa's story half the justice Maguire does his characters... I will be one happy camper to say the least!

    Re: FedEx Dramas

Just an update... they FINALLY did get my fax, and my box passed the test, now they're playing phone tag with me about getting the legal papers to me because the "our fax machine doesn't work, either send it to the Mailboxes Etc place and have them call me or snail mail it" request is apparently rather bewildering. They said they had to send my request to the legal department to find out if that's okay. Haven't heard back for days since.

Had I known it would have been this big a deal, I would have gotten the stupid Fax fixed before I sent my box in.

    Re: FedEx Dramas

Another update... FedEx finally got permission from legal department to snail mail me the papers to sign because the fax issues are too complicated, but they want to confirm my address (which is all over everything I've sent them so far, so wtf...). I of course get this message after the lady who left it has left the office for the weekend, and she probably won't get my return message till like Tuesday. This is really really rediculous.

Boy, do I ever feel stupid for having thought "I'll get the FedEx certification taken care of this week."

EDIT: Oh, and question! Am I going to have to go through this all over again when I move? Or can I just give them a new address at that point in time?
