Re: "fiona" male or female?~
hrm, well that is a pretty good sized bulge. are you sure she/he was born january of 2005? i'm thinking that because fiona was so malnurished his/her body just didn't develop at the speed of a normal crested which would explain a late drop. if you could get a clear pic of the pre-anal area i could probably tell you for sure, but i know that can be next to impossible. at this point my best guess is male--if the bulge gets any bigger you can be pretty certain...

Well, I did verify hatch date with the breeder.... so I know thats right for sure.
I will try for a clear pic of the pre-anal area here in a few mins... maybe if I put this one in a small critter keeper, and it climbs I can get a good pic...

jeanne, unfortunately your pics, although plenty close-up and clear don't reveal much in the way of enlarged pores. it appears that there may be some enlarged pores in the area circled in orange in the photo below, but they should extend up higher onto the legs into the area outlined in blue if they are indeed enlarged pre-anal pores. again, they could just be starting to develop although usually they are visible under magnification before any bulge is noticeable. however, from this angle the bulge is pretty serious--i've never seen a female (especially one fiona's size) with that large of a bulge. it's starting to look as though fiona might really be fiono...

Grrrrr!
Thanks Emily for lookin. I was afraid you were gonna say that...... my whole breeding plans centered around this one, thought to be a girl....
