    of eggs and asteroids

Last week as I set to clean I saw the most MASSIVE urate I had ever seen - at least that was my initial thought when I saw through the tub - then I kind of stood dumbfounded a minute while it sank in. After having gave up at our first effort to breed our het albino male to three of our females (and being all dejected at having the incubator sitting empty and useless until next season) this was a shocker. Betty dropped a clutch of 5 eggs - our first. So now the obsessive worrying can begin hehe.

The limitations of my camera really start to show here in these shots (will have to steal Smynx's lol). With the flash on they look pretty uniform so I had to try it without the flash.

Looks a bit like an asteroid hurtling towards earth. No idea if the irregular surface is normal - there are raised areas thatlook almost like blisters, but they are not weaker or more transluscent than the rest of the egg:

And trying to use this camera with low-light settings on yielded pretty craptacular results. Lots of visible veins (IRL) and what I hope is a healthy glow:

    Fingers crossed!

Spectacular find Smulkin! Was this female a good ol' normal or something a little more special?

I'm not counting on her being anything more than a normal no matter what the remote possibilities

Is the "blistering" unusual enough to cause concern?

    Uncharted territory - input appreciated!

That's just TOO awesome for words, Matt! I can hardly wait 'til they hatch out and we get to see you acting like a proud papa! Is Smynx as excited/nervous as you are?
