Re: Port Credit Pet Centre, in Port Credit Ontario.

So I find a store in S. Ontario that has Prevent-A-Mite (Yippee) and I get to look at snakes too (YAY).

I've been to this store before to buy my Veiled Cham a year ago, and I remember thinking it was ok.

here's what happened.......

Snakes living in awful conditions! The store is a med sized one and they have managed to cram A BUTTLOAD of snakes in there incl. Balls, Burms (about 15 babies and one 12 footer), a tiger retic, african rock pythons, all kinds of boas, a ton of corns and A LOT OTHER.

While the different species of snakes where seperated from each other the snakes of the same species were pretty much all in the same enclosures.

2 of the worst things i saw...

10 baby balls that were so tiny and skinny all clumped together in one 20 gal tank fighting over the same spot. All of the had scales that were "roughed" up and none of them looked healthy or happy at all.

1 juvy ball abdout 2 ft or so in the smallest aquarium I have ever seen. it was about 8 in" wide x 10" tall x 20" long. It was attempting to soak itself in a about a 4" diameter bowl. It was shedding in a ton of pieces. I was shocked.

I don;t know much about other lizards, the caging for them seemed ok, there are a couple occasions where there was a lot of lizards in one enclosure but I wouldn't say it was as bad as the snakes. The only lizards that looked happy were the chameleons that had very nice caging.

It made me sick.

It was bad but I don't know if it was bad enough to get someone to go look into the place. But it made me feel like ****. I got home and had a shower to get completly clean of that place and looked at my babies, I'm glad they're happy!

ANYONE IN THAT AREA.....NEVER GO TO PORT CREDIT PET CENTRE, FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! not even provent-a-mite!!!!!!!!!!! which was over-priced anyways!!!!!!

ok there's my rant, I want to punch the owner

edit: Oh and about the larger breeds of snakes. I highly doubt that anyone is informed of the size they will reach. The "kids" running the store looked like they could care less about anything. I would say that nobody that was working the store was over 18
