Re: temp gun on ebay
Just remember, those IR temp guns are only accurate to +/- 3 degrees (or even more in some cases).
Not the best idea for a lot of herp related applications (incubating temps) that require much more precision.

ahhhh. yeah i saw that it said + or - 2 degrees on the package.. I guess for the small breeder it should be ok.
Also, this is for a quick check.. I will use probed thermostats to have a better idea..

Big breeder, small breeder, doesn't matter ... 2 degrees to a ball python can be the difference between feeding or not feeding, healthy or respiratory infection.
Just a heads up.

hmmm thanks for the heads up. I will be using other temp devises to help verify it.. this for me is just a quick refrence to make sure all is heating ok
I also talked to reptile basic guys this Am about them.. he seemed to think they were great..
well, again, this thread is only for those who want one. I really dont want to get into what is good and bad. PLease lets not hi jack this thread as well. Again if you all want a pe-2 then there ya go.. alot cheaper than anywhere else

They are good for what they are. A quick estimate of the temp within a couple degrees.

I don't think that you're getting the point of the whole "discussion board" thing.
Maybe a blog would be a better idea for your style?

Good God man...can you please stop hijacking threads. ( I wish a mod would ask him to stop)
Thanks for all of your helpful comments but I am no longer going to play your game.
Back to TOPIC.....
I too agree they are graet for quick temp checks.... That is what reptile basics had to say as well.

I don't see how what I posted hijacked this thread?
You posted a product that I have direct experience using and I tried to be helpful by giving my opinion on the practical application of the product when used on a ball python collection. I don't see how I could be any more topical than I was.
Just because my response wasn't the response that you were looking for doesn't mean that I was hijacking the thread ... LOL.
And I'd like to point out that I never once stated that they weren't good for quick temp checks ... only that they shouldn't be relied upon for applications that require precision.
