    mites

Khan has been soaking alot in his water dishes. for the first two days I didnt notice anything in the water.

We use astro turf and had him checked for mites when he went to the vet back in late march early april. he was cleared.

But two nights ago we went to feed him and while he was in the feeder tank I spot cleaned and changed his water. then i noticed about 5 little mites R.I.P-ing in the water.

    We feed live....
could this be where hes gotten them? I mean we feed live in a seperate feeder tank that hes only in for about 2 minutes with the mouse until he starts to eat it.

I see provent-a-mite is most common and highly recommeded...how does it work? and is there any thing I need to do to treat khan hands on...like rub him down with anything?(listen to me..i sound like a mom using vicks!)

if anyone has the time to share their success story and tricks of the trade Id be greatful

I just cant believe he has mites!GRRRR

    Re: mites

Snake mites do not live on mice.. however if you go to pet stores (or anywhere) that has mite infested snakes, they can hitch a ride home with you (on the mouse even possibly)

Provent-a-mite is great.. and it comes with instructions. You do not spray it on the animal, but in the cage. Not on the water dish either. I'd take out the astro turf (trash it) and use newspaper or similar until the mites are gone.
