The animals appear to be healthy, But how can anything human or not stay healthy in that mess???Good thing they got to them before the kids or animals got sick.

Kevin's definitely got my respect for taking in the kids he could. Glad to know there's someone so close to take care of them. ^_^

How ironic that the animals were taken better care of than the little girl.

Re: Kevin of NERD on the news

How very sad for that little girl. Sorry to say but no matter how much I love our critters, no matter how much I want to be able to rescue more as time and funds allow...the human kids, the human family must always come first. I remember long ago on another forum someone put their child out of her room to sleep on a pullout couch because they wanted her bedroom for a herp room. I was new to the hobby back then, but frankly appalled that any parent would make that choice.

I'm glad the young child is out, I'm very glad the herps and other pets are with NERD and other rescue organizations that can properly manage them. Even if they were in good enough shape, if there's that much stink then it's not a healthy place for man nor beast.

I wonder if this is a case where the zeal to rescue either overcame good sense or turned into a hoarding type situation?
