New addition...
Well, I have another Ball...
I was looking in our local paper's classifieds and there was an ad for a Ball Python and enclosure for $75. So I called immediately after getting off of work and the owner said that someone had already called, but he was still hesitant about selling the snake to the first caller(first person was a teenage boy that didn't ask any questions about the snake or tell anything about himself, so that was a no-brainer). I told the guy I would give him $80 in cash up front as well as telling him about myself, that I am a vet tech, and that I have 6 other snakes that are all wonderfully cared for. Needless to say, the owner was very relieved that someone with a bit of experience called, and he agreed to meet me in town so I could meet him and get the snake.
The Ball is 2+ years and is in OK shape, just small and is in shed(very dry, eyecaps cracked and looks to be multuple eyecaps on one side from what I could see). Was fed twice a month on a small, live mouse. Cage is a 20g long critter cage that had a teensy UTH, carpet as substrate, cheap dial temp/humidity gauges, and one half log "hide". Don't know what I'll do with that, but maybe a Beardie/Uro would like it the tank, LoL.
I also probed it and it probes female, but I will probe it again when I get my actual probe kit from my friend(left it in her car on the way back from the Reptile Show). Snake was probed ghetto-style by a 2.5-3.0mm rounded-end crochete hook(NOT the hook you silly people, the blunt, and round-edged handle end). It was a perfect probe, just not ball-tipped.
So anywho! I have another Ball now. Going to set up the final enclosure tonight as last night's was just a makeshift keep-the-snake-warm-and-offer-hides type thing. Is a 40qt tub ok? Seems like it would be fine, but my big girl is in a Sterilite 1995, and the 40qt I'm talking about is the 1986 but has a clear lid instead of white. The snake is maybe 3-3.5ft long, weight is unknown.

First off, congrats! Nice find!
Secondly, a 40qt would be fine... big breeder females can go in 40's... for the size that one is, it would probably be okay in a 32.
Good luck with her, Becky!

Re: New addition...
Lola is about 3ft long and I had her in something close to the 1986 model.
She is now in a 1995. I dont see the harm in the 1986, we had a large half log and a shoebox type hide in it and she seemed just fine, she spent alot of time climbing on things. In her larger home she spends more time strectching out on the sides and crawling under her astro truf.

That's some old school stuff right there ... I remember the first time I saw someone selling probes at a show and was amazed that someone would actually think to make and sell them ... LOL
Keep us posted on how she does!

Re: New addition...
Just wanted to update everyone on my two other girls. Amani is now currently 1540g empty after a shed and will be 2 years old in July. The little black back girl was around 230g when I got her in March, but is now 555g as of last week. She turned a year old in May, but is bulking up quite nicely(I don't know how the breeder was feeding them, but it obviously wasn't very much).
Thanks for all of the congrats! I'm glad the snake found a home with me rather than a person who wouldn't have provided her with the best possible life.
I'll update everyone when I probe her with actual probes, LoL, and her weight. Yay for quarantine!
