shedding or not?
I've had my python for a little over a week now. When i first got her she had a film over her eyes like she was going to shed. but it hasn't went away yet. Is it possible that it could take a week for the next phase in this process? the top of her head looks dryed out as well. The pet store said she was about 14 mounths old, so she should be in good shape. please give me any answers you may have. thank you mike h

Re: shedding or not?
id say give it till the end of the week and your snake should be showing more signs of a shed or shedding. Watch your humidity and avoid bothering your snake. Just let them adjust and go through the motions.

Re: shedding or not?
Hi and welcome! :
I haven't heard of the eyes staying cloudy for more than a couple of days. It could be possible that she is dehydrated, has multiple retained eyecaps, or maybe even is blind. I would guess multiple eyecaps, though. Especially if the top of the head looks dry and crusty.
The age of the BP has nothing to do with how good of shape she may be in. Most pet shops do a lousy job of taking care of them, and there is no way to tell what quality of care she had before she came to them.
If I were in your shoes, I would make sure the temps in her cage are spot on (92-04 warm side and 82-84 cool side) and I would also make sure her humidity is kept higher than normal. 70% or so. Leave her alone and let her acclimate, but keep an eye on her and see if she changes appearance at all.
You might also want to go ahead and look up a good herp vet near you and set up an appointment for a check up.

I think what Judy meant to say was 92-94 degrees on the warm side.
