    Feeding live....

So I emailed the breeder and asked how they were eating, etc. Was told they are all eating very well on live weaning rats. I'm wondering is it hard to get a year old BP to switch over to p/k f/t rats?

I wouldn't think so, I'm still on large mice, as long as the rat isn't any fatter than the fattest part of your BP, it's worth a try, as long as it's not too big and he's hungry!!!it won't be problem.

I have switched over many and never had a single problem. If you use FT, get it fully defrosted and the nice and hot (I soak mine directly in the water until hot and all my snakes get their food wet). Use tongs and wiggle in front of the snake. Should work fine!

    Good luck!!

    Re: Feeding live....

Jamie your lucky, Im almost jealous!! I usually throw the rats in a zip lock and defrost them in hot hot water and last week some condinsation got in there and he would not touch it while it was wet! Ofcourse he seems also not to want to eat until after midnight! Errr!
Jamie has a very good point tho! Make sure the outside temp is good and warm right before you offer, that way they get the heat signature off of it! I use my temp-gun on all the rats to check temps!! lol Its fun!
As far as getting them to switch hopefully yours will be as easy as Davu was! I dont think he cares one way or the other! He was feeding on live mice when i got him and his first meal was a f/t rat and he snatched it right up!!

    Good luck!

Anywhere from a mouse fuzzy to a small rat.
