Has my bp been "hibernating"?
I've had my bp now since last October. When I first got him, for a month or so, he was quite active - out of his hide cruising around trying to escape and what not - on a fairly regular basis, every day, usually in the evening. After that period he became totally different - in his hide for what appeared to be 24/7. The only time I saw him out was when I took him out of his hide to handle. He would also peek his head out to eat and drink.
In the last month or so, he has started coming out in the evenings again by himself. It's starting to become quite regular again. It was almost as if he was hibernating from November until March or April. The temps and humidity in his viv have been just right the whole time and haven't changed even though the weather has been changing outside. It's as if he knew it was winter outside though.
Has anyone else experienced something like this with their bps?

They know it's winter no matter how stable you keep their enclosures indoors. I think it's about light changes or just instinct but they do seem to know. Ours became more hide bound, some refused to eat, some ate a bit less vigorously (well except Malachi who I suspect wouldn't be put off his dinner by a snowstorm, a marching band and a troupe of dancing monkeys nearby LOL).
Hopefully someone far more experienced than I will comment with far more practical knowledge about over-wintering large collections of BP's.

I have 2 BP's, I've had 1 about 2 years 7 m and the other about 2y1
My older one Stripe, was out the first winter and hid the last two, but my other Bp is active all year. Stripe alsow doesn't eat in the winter, but has a hearty appetite the rest of the time.
Same temp all year like you, lights are 12on/12off all year. Like Frankykeno said, they just seem to know when it's winter.
As long he seems healthy and active, I think your ok. Remember, they're nocturnal, mine are mostly out at night, after their lights go off.
