Ugh - I think Sarah has mites

Well, got home last night and Sarah was soaking in her water bowl, which she's never done. And she overflows her water bowl, so her bedding is wet, and humidity is sky high. I took her out and there were these teeny tiny little black dots (maybe three of them), but that's all they looked like - dots (like flecks of black pepper) in the water.

I checked her over and never could see anything crawling on her. Checked her vents, her eyes, etc, and still didn't see anything - but I figured if she's soaking - and I see these three "pepper flakes" - it's got to be mites.

So, I treated her with Reptile Relief again last night (I treated her with it before I ever brought her into the house when I first got her), changed the bedding, cleaned the enclosure like mad, and have just ordered some Provent-A-Mite (something I've been meaning to do for some time anyway).

I found this one site that seemed like it was pretty reasonably priced - if you ever need to buy any yourself. It's Entirelypets.com and a can was $19.85. Should be here in a couple of days, so I plan to treat all my enclosures with it, and will follow the directions to a "T".

Entirelypets.com is where I got my first 2 cans of Provent-a-Mite several years ago. They provide good service. Not the cheapest price in town, but good service.

Be sure to follow the directions carefully on the Provent-A-Mite (that is some strong stuff!), but that should do the trick if those are mites!

    Good luck!

They seemed cheaper than other sites I checked after you figured in shipping. There was another site that sold it for about $17 a can, but their shipping caused the final price to be more than entirelypets.com.

I'm hoping that I'm just being obsessive and that she just felt like soaking - but I'm also worried about her constantly being on wet bedding and getting scale rot (as if I don't have enough to be obsessive about! LOL)
