Red face update on my babies

Well i got the results of my babies today.I guess the female must have retained sperm from her previous breeding because not one baby is a pastel. So i figured i would show my honesty and post this info since i have had several people contacting me wanting pastels.I did end up with 3 male and 5 females all with some nice patterns.I will make a post in the classified section in the next day or two along with some pics.I will have pastels next year though .Incase someone is wondering how i could not tell if i had pastels or not this was my first year trying to breed a ball python morph.I am also color blind concerning certain colors. That is why i would not make any deals until i was 110% sure or not i had pastels.Thank you for reading

    Re: update on my babies

Doesn't mean it was retained sperm. You could have just missed on the odds.

A couple of years back, I had a big girl breed a lemon pastel and give me 12 normals out of 12 eggs ... no pastels ... I know it wasn't retained sperm, because she had only been with the lemon pastel in previous years.

A co-dom doesn't automatically mean half the babies will be that morph ... it's 50/50 odds per egg ... looks like you just had some bad luck.

The ball gods will be extra kind to you next year ... the year after I missed on those 12 lemons, I went 10 lessers out of 11 eggs in a clutch ... what comes around goes around.

Thumbs up Re: update on my babies

Thanks Adam & Emilio, i am still happy with this clutch as a few are really nice looking black backs with some sweet patterns. One in particular would have made one very sweet looking pastel if it would have caught the gene .I just might keep a few back for the future.
