Snakes on a Plane
No not the stupid movie....
I was just wondering if you go to one of big reptiles shows like Daytona and buy a snake, is there anyway to take it back on the airplane with you?
You probably cant carry it on? Can you have it as part of your checked bags? Or do people ship it back to themselves somehow?

Re: Snakes on a Plane
You know..I have taken rodents on a plane as carry on in critter keepers, and those were put into a small camera bag...and kept safely under my seat... so I dont know why you could not put a snake in a snake bag and then put into one of those canvas camera type bags like I did. But do be aware, anything you take on as carry on, will be put through the x-ray machine. They saw my rats on the screen, and I did too as they went through, but they never said one word to me about it.

Re: Snakes on a Plane
No, you can't take snakes in the passenger compartment of an airplane anymore.
Back in the day, I had heard that people would put snakes in a tube sock, tie it in knot and carry it on the plane back in their pocket ... those days are long gone.

Can you check it as luggage?

Of course Adam still does that when he goes to a bar, he doesn't stuff it in his back pocket though, all the girls want to hang out with him when he is "stuffed"...

I would guess you need to ship it...but Adam and such people should have the real answer since they go to those shows often...what do out-of-town attendees who've flown in get their new snakies home?

Re: Snakes on a Plane
I think your best bet if you are flying to and from the Expo, is to make a deal with the person you're buying from to have them ship it to your home.

Re: Snakes on a Plane
My question is how do far-out-of-town vendors get all their "products" (animals) to the show safely and keep them at proper temps/humidity for the duration of the trip and expo? I would imagine the insurance as well is staggering...
I just have this vision of Adam driving an SUV or something, chock full of 1000's and 1000's of dollars worth of snakes from Maryland to Florida...
