    Boa Morphs

I've noticed that boa morphs are considerably cheaper than ball, Im thinking of maybe getting one or a couple hets. I was wondering though if you bred a het anery with a hypo if you would still get a ghost boa.

ok the babies would be hypos 50% het ghost and the normal looking ones would be 50% het anery, to be certain u need to breed a hypo to a visual anery to make the babies hypos het ghost.

    Re: Boa Morphs

Ok, if I bred a hypo and an anery then all the litter would be 100% het for ghost and half the litter would be hypos and half would be normals. Is that right. What are some of the better boa breeders.

    Re: Boa Morphs

No, not 100% het ghost. Hypo is co-dominant in boas. Super hypo/salmon bred to an anery boa would produce 100% het ghost. They would all be hypo babies het anery (which is het ghost)

    Re: Boa Morphs

Ok, then the entire litter would be hypos and all would carry the gene for anery. So that would mean if I pick any 2 and bred them, I would theoretically get a ghost. Right

    Re: Boa Morphs

I sure am glad I don't breed boas! I don't have a clue what you guys are talking about! I understand what a ghost, anery, and hypo look like, but this thread is MONDO confusing!!

    Re: Boa Morphs

Hypo x Anery = 50% hypos het for anery (Dhet Ghost) and 50% regulars het for anery

Hypo Het Anery X Het Anery = 12.5% Normal, 12.5% Ghost, 12.5% Anery, 12.5% Hypo, 25% Het Anery
    25% Hypo Het Anery

Ghost x Ghost = 100% ghosts; 50% are possible dominant

Boas, it seems boas don't even have 1/2 as many morphs as BP's. But, make no mistake, boas have their own following! Pricey Boa morphs are within $5,000-$15,000 with some such as the Scoria and T+ Albinos as high as $20,000-$25,000.

Boas also have more babies per litter than BP's, BP's on average may drop 4-8 eggs, while boas drop 20-30 babies and as high as 40-60.

    Example:
    Breed an Albino BP X Het Albino = say you get 6 eggs! 3 being Albinos for $1500 = $4500 / 3 being Hets say $500 = $1500..total = $6000

    Breed an Albino boa X Het Albino = say you get 24 babies! 12 being Albino X $750 = $9000 / 12 being Het say $200 = $2400…total = $11,400

Of course, you have to take into account cost of feeding, housing, etc, etc.

Another thing is, you also don't see glow in the dark boas or fluorescent boas being imported or bred yearly like BP's seem to have. There are some break throughs in boas and quite a few in the works as well!

I think we'll see some awesome new boa morphs and combos being produced in the next 3-5yrs! I feel boas still have an immense potential and growth, especially when you look at the work being done with Nics and the smaller sized boas.

    Re: Boa Morphs

Im getting it now. The double hets after the first breeding they are 100% het? I think the boa morphs have a ways to go but they're still very nice. Everyone is breeding balls, boas are more interesting.
