are you sure he escaped? i know it sounds crazy but it's definitely a possibility if everything was shut tight. sift thru the bedding and check every square inch of the enclosure. the same thing happened to me a couple months after i got vanessa. i found her under her waterbowl partially burried by aspen.

if he really did escape look all around the room. he probably didnt go very far. one time zulu escaped, wa gone for half a day, and i found him in my closet 3 feet away from the enclosure. good luck buddy!

    Re: Bunta Escaped!!! please help!!

Freddie had taken a slither a couple of days ago. Her tank was a little warm, so I shifted the light to let it cool off, spaced it and went to bed. Waking up realized I'd let her out.

Look on shelves, under things. Check in tight, dark corners. Under the fridge, behind the stove---somewhere warm. They'll climb too, but really like the tight fitting places. Be careful sitting on your couch. Bunta might be in/under/behind the cushions and U wouldn't want to injure him by sitting down!

We're in the process of (still) unpacking from the move, so I was moving boxes, looking IN them.

Since MY bedroom door was shut, I checked R's room on the off chance w/it being warmer (and the baby and pet rats being in there) that she'd be in there. Checked the closet, under the desk, chest of drawers, between the wall and bed. NOTHING!

I FINALLY found her between the mattress/boxsprings and the wall at the head of R's bed. Her bed is two boxsprings and a mattress (no frame) and the mattress had pulled away from the wall leaving a little shelf on the upper box. Freddie was cold, but lying there zig-zagged on the shelf just "hanging out". ( Jeeez, what a BAAAAAAAD pun!)

Watch your cats if U have 'em. Sometimes they'll be watching the snake or going nutso if the snake is slithering around. (Except MINE, of course!!! I have FOUR of them, and NONE of the dorky things were even caring that Freddie was in there! Sure would have saved me about 1/2 hr. looking!)

Oooops Had to go back and reread. With the 'turtling' comment I got thinking Bunta's a turtle??? but the later comment says looking at where snakes would escape to. ??? Sorry if you're looking for a turtle and I've misunderstood.

When Kishnah escaped, she was on the floor about 5.5' lower than her tank, 2.5' away underneath Robin's backpack when she was found, so be careful about that too.

If your snake is out, they will find the warmest place in the room. If you have any electronics, checking behind them would be a good place to start.

You could try turning off all electronics and and anything warm, and then placing a heat source in the center of the room leaving the room with the lights off, and check back periodicly. The heat source should draw him back out.

I have heard of people doing this with food as well. Put a live mouse in a cage in the center of the room and he will likely sniff it out.

    Good luck!

Another thing to keep in mind about an escaped snake...if you look at a space and think to yourself "Nah...he can't have gotten into that tiny space..." You better check it!! They can, and will, squeeze themselves into amazingly tight places.

    FOUND BUNTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just noticed i had a bunch of empty computer game boxes that i overlooked because they seemed too small for Bunta... but sure enough i found him in there curled up. It was cute though when i opened the backs because he made himself into a rectangle shape to fit in there.

Glad to have found him and know he is safe again. want to thank you guys for all you help!

Congrats on finding Bunta. See what Judy said about checking places where you are sure your snake wouldn't fit was dead on LOL. Glad Bunta is back safe and sound.
