    New Crested

So I got a new crested today, he's veeeeery tiny....

~sorry for the crap picture, using my camera phone.

    And he's housed in this

A Ten gallon with a screen top with some fake plants and bamboo.

The guys at the pet shop recomended two things to me. One was to use some plastic sheeting with lots of holes poked in it layed between the cage and the screen top to hold in the hunidity and keep the critter off the screen. Is this a good idea? Also they didnt have CGD, so they recommended using peach and turkey baby foods with calcium and D3 supplements added. Is this acceptable until i snag some real CGD?
And when i say hes small, i mean really small. Looks like hes maybe 2 weeks old based on other pics ive seen

    Re: New Crested

aaaw, he IS little! i'd say he's 4 weeks or less, just judging by the pic. your setup looks very nice. it is a bit big for such a tiny baby, so make sure to keep an eye on him to make sure that he is finding his food.

unless it is extremely dry where you are you shouldn't need to cover the screen with anything. even if it is dry, several good mistings a day and providing a shallow dish of water should be enough unless it is having trouble shedding (at which point you can cover maybe half of the screen and add a humid hide). if the gecko gets on the screen that's totally fine--they make screen and acrylic enclosures specifically for crested geckos--i'm not really sure why you wouldn't want him to get on the screen.

peach and turkey baby food is fine until you get cgd--just mix in a very small amount of supplement so you don't give your little one a calcium overdose. if he doesn't seem to like it you may try it without the turkey mixed in--the turkey is basically for protein, but if you can get the cgd within the next week it's no big deal if you don't use it. it's not exactly appealing smelling...
