    Humane Way of killing Mice

I was wondering if there any humane ways of killing mice, other than using Co2. If there is a method it will be used on adult mice, but if there are no ways to do it in an humane way than i will make an homemade gas chamber. I have tried a search on these forums and did not find anything. Thanks for the help guys.

You could use cervical dislocation but it takes a bit of practice.

    See http://labanimals.stanford.edu/Guidelines/Cerv_Dis.html

    See Section IV titled Methods.

Thank you very much, i will have to try this method out. I am currently killing my 5 breeder mice, since they have been canabalizing their young a lot latly and then going to get a few more to start breeding again. These 5 mice will be my backup feed if my breeders are not producing at the moment.

You can also use dry ice, and other CO2 methods to gas the mice as well. If you are interested in that I know there are a few threads about that. I'll dig for them if you want.

Mix 1 cup of white vinegar to 1.2 tbsps of baking soda. It makes 1.2 gallons of CO2.

I have used this method to euthanize many rodents in my time. It is cheap, but more importantly, HUMANE.

Cervical dislocation is very cruel if not done right. I do not reccommend it to those who are inexperienced and have not been shown how to do it correctly.

Yea I was thinking that it would not be humane if i did the cervical dislocation wrong. Since i am not experiaced at it i know i would probably have done it wrong.

Cervical dislocation is also very hard to do on larger animals, like rats beyond pup size (At least that I"ve found).

This is a link to another method of Co2. I tend to mess up with chemistry ... and am more adept at just add water.
